Aditya Raya, the director and writer of the movie and a member of Baishnavi Productions that is making the movie.
'Hum Jayega' is the nickname given to the late Dal Bahadur Gurung, a resident of Kakjohra in Darjeeling. Over the years, his popularity rose due to many fictional jokes made on him with many booklets also dedicated to him in the past, with the jokes on him also found on the internet. One of the main persons contributing to the jokes was literary figure Bijoy Kumar Rai, who took out different books having a collection of 'Hum Jayega' jokes. In fact, it was from his books called "Humjayega Ko Diary," first published in 1982, that much of the jokes in the movie has been used.
This film also boasts of a strong cast with eminent actors here like Lath Goley, Deoraj Sherpa, Jeevan Gurung, Arun Prakash Rai, and Hemant Giri playing major roles. These actors are famous for their comic timings in movies and theatres. The production house of the movie had also kept an online contest, asking viewers to guess who was playing the role of
'Hum Jayega' in the movie
from among the five actors. It
was revealed today that the role
was being played by Jeevan
Gurung.
"I still remember that it was
in my college days I was introduced to Hum Jayega, who like
many others I had thought was
a fictional character he looked
like a serious person who told
jokes without laughing or
smiling. It was then I thought
of taking out a collection of
jokes based on him. Not all the
jokes in it were entirely his, but
I made some of them, influenced by the books I used to
read. The book became so
popular that about 5,000
copies of it were sold in one
month. The figure has become
so internationally accepted in
our community that I still get
offers to republish the book,"
said Bijoy Kumar Rai.
According to Mr Rai, the
song released today and titled
'Hum Jayega* was also written
by Dal Bahadur Gurung himself.
