Worker killed in accident onSevoke - Rangpo railway project

YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, APRIL 5, 2022: In yet another accident in the under construction Sevoke - Rangpo railway project, one worker lost his life and another sustained injures near Kalijhora on Tuesday.
The accident took place during tunnel excavation work at Lohapool at Tunnel T4P2. According to police sources, the accident took place at around 1 a.m. The worker who was killed was identified as Sakim Haque (47) of North Dinajpur district.
The worker was rushed to Rambi Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. His body was sent to Kalimpong District Hospital for post mortem. Another worker sustained minor injuries in the accident and was discharged after first aid at Rambi Hospital.
This was the third accident during the construction of the Sevoke-Rangpo railway project. Earlier, two workers were killed and five others were injured in an accident at Tunnel 10 at Bhalukhola between Malli and Tarkhola, at around 10 pm on June 17.
Two workers were killed in an accident while constructing a bridge on Kali Khola near Kalijhora at 11.30 pm on December 19.
