HM Amit Shah to hold rally in Siliguri

SNS, SILIGURI, 27 APRIL 2022 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit and stay for a night in Siliguri during his three-day tour of West Bengal on 4 May. According to Darjeeling's BJP MP Raju Bista, Mr Shah, as the Home Minister, will take stock of the law and order situation in the state, and especially in North Bengal that is strategically important.

He said Mr Shah will be arriving in Kolkata, and that during his visit to North Bengal, he would especially visit the Tin Bigha Corridor on the Indo-Bangladesh border in Cooch Behar district.

Mr Bista expressed concerns over reports of infiltration of Rohingyas through n Malda. 'The situation in West Bengal is alarming. If such a situation continues, Bengal would be either a greater Bangladesh or another Kashmir in future," Mr Bista said.

"The Union Home Minister would also hold a meeting with party leaders and take part in a rally in Siliguri, while he plans to stay in Siliguri for the night", he added.

Citing an alleged rape incident in North Bengal, where a minor girl tried to commit suicide by setting herself on fire, Mr Bista, who landed in Siliguri by air today was very critical of the Trinamool Congress and its chief Mamata Banerjee and the state government for their alleged corruption in recruitments, and the unemployment problems. 

The minor girl from Jalpaiguri succumbed to her injuries in Siliguri on Monday.
