SC agrees to urgent listing of petition seeking online board exam

The matter is expected to be taken up for hearing on Tuesday
R. Balaji   |   TT  |  New Delhi   |  22.02.22: The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to the urgent listing of a petition seeking online Class X and XII board exams instead of an in-person exercise in view of the pandemic.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana agreed to list the matter for urgent hearing upon a request by advocate Prashant Padmananbhan, appearing for child rights activist Anubha Shrivastava Sahai.

“We deem it appropriate to direct the registry to list the matter before the bench presided over by Hon’ble Justice A.M. Khanwilkar,” said the bench that included Justices A.S. Bopanna and Hima Kohli,

The matter is expected to be taken up for hearing on Tuesday.

The petitioner has sought the formation of a committee to decide the proper evaluation of internal assessment of regular students and a formula to assess marks obtained by compartmental students.

The petitioner also wants a directive to the UGC to appoint a committee to decide the date of admissions for various professional courses keeping in view the board exams.

The present situation is still not conducive for offline exams and there is uncertainty among the students in this regard, the petition said.
