Night-long drive to repair road in Kalimpong

YOWAN MOTHAY , EOI, KALIMPONG, FEBRUARY 20, 2022: The road from Haat Bazaar Gate to Rally Road Catholic Church in ward nos. 10 and 11 under Kalimpong Municipality was repaired in a night-long operation on Saturday, between 5 pm to 1 am. The road repair work was carried out under the supervision of Kalimpong Municipality Chairman Ravi Pradhan. 

The work would continue on Sunday night too. The road was repaired at night, keeping in view the convenience of drivers and common people as it is a busy road, with a lot of vehicles and people using the road in the day time. It is the arterial road connecting most of the areas with the Kalimpong town. 

The demand for water in Kalimpong town is also met through this route. Chairman Ravi Pradhan said on Sunday that the road was repaired keeping in mind that the people, particularly drivers, had been facing many problems due to the bad condition of the road for some time now. 

Pradhan said the stretch of the road had been repaired several times by the Municipality. The condition of the road deteriorated due to past rains. 

It was an emergency repair that was carried out. Road repair work had been completed in ward no. 19. Road repair work for a 500-metre stretch was being going on in ward no. 15, said Ravi Pradhan said.
