Two schools of Kalimpong representing state in the National level of Science Congress


KalimNews, Kalimpong, 19 January 2022: For the first time two schools of Kalimpong are selected at a time to the National level of National Children’s Science Congress. Out of 30 schools selected to represent the state in the National Congress 
Deepshikha Khanal of St. George’s HS School and Mrinal Lepcha of Pranami Balika Vidya Mandir will be representing both the district and the state.
The project of Pranami Balika Vidya Mandir titled “NH-10 Teesta Bridge to Rambhi Road planning to prevent ecological Hazard” is guided by guide teacher Binita Thapa. While  Leo Chhetri of St. George’s H S School is the guide teacher of the project “Preparation of yeast cake by indigenous tribes in Kalimpong Hills”.
Beside Kalimpong, one each from the districts of Siliguri MP & Darjeeling, Kochbehar, Uttar Dinajpur, East Medinipur, West Medinipur, Murshidabad, Hugli, Nadia, two each from Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Howrah, Jhargram, Bardhaman, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas and three each from Birbhum and Kolkata are the districts selected for the nationals. Saikat Ganguly State Academic Coordinator circulated the list of the selected 30 child scientists from the state taking part in the national level congress. 
The presentation of the state level of the 29th National Children’s Science Congress was held online from 13 to 17 January 2022. 
It is reminded that from the Kalimpong district out of 13 projects, four schools were selected to represent in the state level congress. Those four schools were represented by Mingma Dekhi Sherpa of Lava HS School, Nima Rinchen Gurung of SUM Institution, Deepshikha Khanal of St. George’s HS School, and Mrinal Lepcha of Pranami Balika Vidya Mandir
The national level congress will be held on 1-5 February in the online mode. 
The district level congress of the National Children’s Science Congress on ‘Science for Sustainable Living’ was held online on 5th and 6th January 2022.
It is reminded that students of Chisang High School, Gitdabling HSS, Lolay Sampu HSS, Chandramaya HSS, Shankar HSS, Algarah HSS, St. George’s HSS, Indo Tibetan HSS, Lava HSS, SUM Institution and Pranami Balika Vidya Mandir took  part in the district level congress. 
The Kalimpong district committee has congratulated the two schools for performing well and wished them bests of presentation in the national level congress.
