TT Bureau | Siliguri/Cooch Behar | 10.01.22 : The detective department of Siliguri Metropolitan Police arrested two persons from Khaprail More in Matigara, on the outskirts of Siliguri, on Sunday and seized a firearm and some live ammunition from them.
“Our men acted on source information and intercepted a car in Khaprail More. They found one 7.65 bore automatic pistol, two magazines and four rounds of live cartridges concealed in the car. There were two persons in the vehicle and both have been arrested,” said a police officer.
Those arrested were Randhir Chandra and Dhirendra Chandra, residents of Sainikpuri in Matigara.

district apprehended Philimohan Hebram, a resident of Thakurgaon district of Bangladesh and a suspected smuggler, on Saturday while he was trying to infiltrate into India.
In another intelligence based operation on Saturday, troops of the 176 battalion of the force posted in Darjeeling district intercepted Mohammad Jainal Abedin, another Bangladeshi smuggler who is from Panchagarh district of the neigbouring country, while he was illegally trying to cross the international boundary.
Both have been handed over to the local police.
Also, on Saturday night, BSF personnel posted under the north Bengal frontier carried out a driver to prevent smuggling and could seize contraband items including cattle worth 4.26 lakhs.
The items were seized when smugglers were trying to smuggle those to Bangladesh.
In Cooch Behar, a team of Mekhliganj police was attacked on Saturday as they went to a village and seized some cattle which were brought for smuggling.
