Kalimpong sends 2 students to Children’s Science Congress

YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI,  KALIMPONG, JANUARY 25: Deepshikha Khanal, student of Class XI of St George’s H.S School, Pedong, and Mrinal Lepcha, student of Class X of Pranami Balika Vidhya Mandir, Kalimpong, have been selected for the national level of 29th National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC). 
Deepshikha’s project titled “Preparation of yeast cake by indigenous tribes of Kalimpong hills” and Mrinal’s project titled “NH-10 Teesta bridge to Rambhi bridge planning to prevent ecological hazard” have been selected to represent the schools, the district and the state in the national level of NCSC. 
In the district level of the congress held on December 5 and 6, 13 projects were presented by different schools, out of which four projects were selected as the best projects of the Kalimpong district. Among these were also projects presented by Mingma Dekhi Sherpa of Lava H.S school and Nima Rinchen Gurung of Sum institution besides the other two. 
These four projects were selected by the Kalimpong district of the NCSC to represent Kalimpong district to the state level of NCSC held from January 13 to 17 along with about 160 projects from 23 districts of West Bengal. 
Out of these 160 projects, 30 were selected from different districts to represent the state to the national level of NCSC and two of them are from Kalimpog district. 
The national level of 29th National Children’s Science Congress on the theme ‘Science for sustainable living’ will be held from February 15 to 18 online. 
NCSC is the flagship programme of National Council for Science and Technology Communication of the Union Department of Science and Technology.
