Out of 801 samples- 308 tests positive, 470 recovered from Covid-19, 5 child dies in NBMCH
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 21 January 2022: Reports received from Darjeeling district administration and collected from other sources regarding death, new cases, recovery, testing, and treatment of Covid patients in the different Hospitals of North Bengal including Darjeeling district and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the last 24 hours are as follows:

5 died
Sanjay Naik, 45 yr old of Malbazar, died today in Covid Block of NBMCH .
Nimai Ghose, 60 yr old of Singhi Jhora Bagdogra, died today in Covid Block of NBMCH. 
Shankar SIngh, 55 yr old of Gate Bazar, Bhaktinagar died today in Covid Block of NBMCH. 
Narayan Roy, 49 yr old of Alipurduar, died today in Covid Block of NBMCH. 
Loknath Mondal, 84 yr old Siliguri died today in Covid Block of NBMCH. 

Paediatric Ward of NBMCH
27 new children suspected to be infected by Respiratory Syncytial virus (RSV) and none suffering from ARI (Acute respiratory Illness) is admitted from Coochbehar in pediatric ward of the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) during the last 24 hrs,
19 (1 suffering from ARI) are released today after recovery. 
Presently 5 Children suffering from ARI patients are being treated. 
 
5 child died:
In the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) unit of NBMCH, 1 child died of ailments other than ARI and RSV.
4 in the SNCU (Sick Newborn Care Unit) of NBMCH died today.

308 tested positive: Test report received from Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at NBMCH
Out of 801 swab samples received for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Tests - 308 tested positive.
 
286 in SMC:
286 of Siliguri Municipality Corporation (226 in Darjeeling and 60 Jalpaiguri districts) test positive. 
 
699 in Darjeeling district:
699 positive cases were reported in the district of Darjeeling, while 226 are from the area of Darjeeling district of the SMC. 473
96 of the Hills (15 in Darjeeling Municipality, 42 in Kurseong Municipality, 13 in Mirik, 7 in Bijanbari, 15 in Sukhiapokhari, 4 in Takdah)
377 of the plains (43 in Khoribari, 174 in Matigara, 66 in Naxalbari, 75 in Phansidewa, 19 in Sukuna) also test positive.

63 admitted:
In the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, 63 patients are being treated for Covid-19 and suspected Covid-19 infection in North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. In the Covid block, there are 34 patients, 24 admitted to the CCU unit of the Covid Block I, and 10 in the Covid Block II (Chest & Cardiac Unit) of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), 
There are 6 patient in Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) ward, 17 in Gynecological Maternity Isolation ward (ID III) and 4 in the Pediatric Covid Block of NBMCH, and 2 in surgical isolation ward and none in HDU (Trauma care centre).
During the last 24 hours, no serious patients are being treated in the two Isolation wards of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH).

470 Discharged:
470 patients have been released from Covid hospitals including home isolation patients but excluding patients in private hospitals and army establishments.
