5 dies, 137 in Darj, 19 in Darj Hills, 86 in Plains, 39 in SMC tests positive, 63 admitted in Covid Block of NBMCH

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 29 January 2022: Reports received from Darjeeling district administration and collected from other sources regarding death, new cases, recovery, testing, and treatment of Covid patients in the different Hospitals of North Bengal including Darjeeling district and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the last 24 hours are as follows:
5 died
Dr. Prakash Kumar Lahiri, 86 yr old of Hakimpara, Siliguri died today in Covid Block of NBMCH.
Sunil Debnath, 62 yr old of Rajadanga, Malbazar died today in Covid Block of NBMCH.
Rabinadra Nath Dhali, 84 yr old of Bagdogra, Siliguri, died today in Covid Block of NBMCH.
Chhottu Gore, 80 yr old of Nimtijhora TE, Alipurduar, died today in Covid Block of NBMCH.
Brojodulal Paul, 71 yr old of Tufangunj, Coochbehar, died today in Covid Block of NBMCH.
Paediatric Ward of NBMCH
23 new children suspected to be infected by Respiratory Syncytial virus (RSV) and none are suffering from ARI (Acute respiratory Illness) is admitted from Coochbehar in pediatric ward of the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) during the last 24 hrs,
17 are released today after recovery.
Presently 1 Child suffering from ARI patients is being treated.
4 children died:
In the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) unit of NBMCH, 4 children died of ailments other than ARI and RSV.
275 tested positive: Test report received from Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at NBMCH
Out of 741 swab samples received for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Tests - 275 tested positive.
39 in SMC:
96 of Siliguri Municipality Corporation (32 in Darjeeling and 7 Jalpaiguri districts) test positive.
137 in Darjeeling district:
137 positive cases were reported in the district of Darjeeling, while 32 are from the area of Darjeeling district of the SMC.
19 of the Hills (4 in Darjeeling Municipality, 5 in Kurseong Municipality, 2 in Mirik, 2 in Bijanbari, 4 in Sukhiapokhari, 2 in Takdah)
86 of the plains (28 in Khoribari, 39 in Matigara, 13 in Naxalbari, 3 in Phansidewa, 3 in Sukuna) also test positive.
63 admitted:
In the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, 63 patients are being treated for Covid-19 and suspected Covid-19 infection in North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. In the Covid block, there are 46 patients, 21 admitted to the CCU unit of the Covid Block I, and 25 in the Covid Block II (Chest & Cardiac Unit) of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH),
There are 6 patients in Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) ward, 11 in Gynecological Maternity Isolation ward (ID III) and none in the Pediatric Covid Block of NBMCH, and none in surgical isolation ward and none in HDU (Trauma care centre).
During the last 24 hours, no serious patients are being treated in the two Isolation wards of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH).
211 Discharged:
211 patients have been released from Covid hospitals including home isolation patients but excluding patients in private hospitals and army establishments.
