KalimNews, Kalimpong, 18 January 2022: Reports received from Darjeeling district administration and collected from other sources regarding death, new cases, recovery, testing, and treatment of Covid patients in the different Hospitals of North Bengal including Darjeeling district and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the last 24 hours are as follows:
61 of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital tested positive: 3 Doctors including OSD Dr. Sushanta Roy, 49 Medical (MBBS 1st and 2nd yr) students, 7 nurses 2 health (house) staff of NBMCH
Paediatric Ward of NBMCH
19 new children suspected to be infected by Respiratory Syncytial virus (RSV) and one suffering from ARI (Acute respiratory Illness) is admitted from Coochbehar in paediatric ward of the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) during the last 24 hrs,
and 1 is referred from Islampur. None of them is suffering from ARI (Acute respiratory Illness) .15 (4 suffering from ARI) are released today after recovery.
Presently 12 Children suffering from ARI patients are being treated.
1 child died:
In the PICU unit of NBMCH, 1 child died of ailments other than ARI and RSV.
194 tested positive: Test report received from Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at NBMCH
Out of 647 swab samples received for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Tests - 194 tested positive..
199 in SMC:
199 of Siliguri Municipality Corporation (157 in Darjeeling and 42 Jalpaiguri districts) test positive.
401 in Darjeeling district:
401 positive cases were reported in the district of Darjeeling, while 157 are from the area of Darjeeling district of the SMC. 179
77 of the Hills (21 in Darjeeling Municipality, 18 in Kurseong Municipality, 5 in Mirik, 20 in Bijanbari, 9 in Sukhiapokhari, 4 in Takdah)
167 of the plains (22 in Khoribari, 80 in Matigara, 44 in Naxalbari, 8 in Phansidewa, 13 in Sukuna) also test positive.
52 admitted:
In the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, 53 patients are being treated for Covid-19 and suspected Covid-19 infection in North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. In the Covid block, there are 29 patients, 19 admitted to the CCU unit of the Covid Block I, and 10 in the Covid Block II (Chest & Cardiac Unit) of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH),
There is 6 patient in Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) ward, 13 in Gynecological Maternity Isolation ward (ID III) and 4 in the Pediatric Covid Block of NBMCH, and none in HDU (Trauma care centre) and surgical isolation ward.
During the last 24 hours, no serious patients are being treated in the two Isolation wards of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH).
291 Discharged:
283 patients have been released from Covid hospitals including home isolation patients but excluding patients in private hospitals and army establishments.
