1 dies, 278 in Darj, 50 in Darj Hills, 129 in Plains, 120 in SMC tests positive, 42 admitted in Covid Block of NBMCH

Out of 1037 samples- 373 tests positive, 283 recovered from Covid-19.
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 16 January 2022: Reports received from Darjeeling district administration and collected from other sources regarding death, new cases, recovery, testing, and treatment of Covid patients in the different Hospitals of North Bengal including Darjeeling district and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the last 24 hours are as follows:
61 of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital tested positive: 3 Doctors including OSD Dr. Sushanta Roy, 49 Medical (MBBS 1st and 2nd yr) students, 7 nurses 2 health (house) staff of NBMCH 

1 died
Mahesh Poddar, 47 yr old of Islampur, Uttar Dinajpur died today in Covid Block of NBMCH. . He had taken both doses of Covid vaccine but had comorbidities.

Paediatric Ward of NBMCH
20 new children suspected to be infected by Respiratory Syncytial virus (RSV) and none suffering from ARI (Acute respiratory Illness) are admitted in paediatric ward of the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) during the last 24 hrs,
15 (none suffering from ARI) are released today after recovery. 
Presently 17 Children suffering from ARI patients are being treated. 

1 child died:
In the NBMCH, 2 child died of other ailments.In the PICU unit of NBMCH, 1 child died ailments other than ARI and RSV.

373 tested positive: Test report received from Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at NBMCH
Out of 1037 swab samples received for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Tests - 373 tested positive.
 
120 in SMC:
120 of Siliguri Municipality Corporation (99 in Darjeeling and 21 Jalpaiguri districts) test positive. 
 
278 in Darjeeling district:
278 positive cases were reported in the district of Darjeeling, while 99 are from the area of Darjeeling district of the SMC. 179
50 of the Hills (12 in Darjeeling Municipality, 11 in Kurseong Municipality, 6 in Mirik, 15 in Bijanbari, 4 in Sukhiapokhari, 2 in Takdah)
129 of the plains (6 in Khoribari, 78 in Matigara, 35 in Naxalbari, 2 in Phansidewa, 8 in Sukuna) also test positive.

42 admitted:
In the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, 42 patients are being treated for Covid-19 and suspected Covid-19 infection in North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. In the Covid block, there are 23 patients, 13 admitted to the CCU unit of the Covid Block I, and 10 in the Covid Block II (Chest & Cardiac Unit) of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), 
There is 3 patient in Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) ward, 14 in Gynecological Maternity Isolation ward (ID III) and 2 in the Pediatric Covid Block of NBMCH, and none in HDU (Trauma care centre) and surgical isolation ward.
During the last 24 hours, no serious patients are being treated in the two Isolation wards of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH).

283 Discharged:
283 patients have been released from Covid hospitals including home isolation patients but excluding patients in private hospitals and army establishments.
