The West Bengal school education department has designed a 100-day bridge course to make students confident in their new class.

Setu Pathakram will be introduced in the new academic session starting January for students of all classes, Avik Majumder, the chairman of the expert committee on curriculum and textbooks, told PTI.

The course is being introduced to help students understand the subjects better and fill in the gaps of online learning.

Classes were conducted in virtual mode ever since schools were shut since March last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The educational institutions in West Bengal reopened for students of Classes IX to XII in mid-November this year.

Teachers od state-run and government-aided educational institutions are already being trained, Majumder said.

Majumder said the curriculum of the bridge course has been tailored by experts for each class. The course material will be customised depending on the respective class and the receptive ability of students.

“If offline classes are delayed because of any new development in the coronavirus situation, we will keep it ready for the time the situation becomes normal,” he said.

Students of Classes VI, VIII, and XI will be told about the coronavirus, the do's and don'ts of COVID safety and the need to follow COVID- ppropriate behaviour, Majumder said.
