Newly-married couple found hanging in SIliguri
SNS, SILIGURI, 21 NOVEMBER 21 : A newly-married couple was found hanging in their home at Debidanga in Siliguri today. The incident sparked a sensation in the area.
Sources said that a resident of Debidanga, Musihur Rahman, 22, and Nuzat Nasreen, 19, of Ramganj in North Dinajpur district, had married only 15 days ago. The 19-year-old girl was studying in class XII.
The parents of the girl, meanwhile, blamed her in-laws for the incident.
"We were informed this morning that they had committed suicide I had a talk with both of them last night. We wanted to take my daughter to school for her registration on Monday. Her father-in-law, however, did n of want her to go. This is not a case of suicide. We cannot believe that she would commit suicide by any means," said Ruksara Begum, the mother of Nuzat Nasreen.
The family members of Musihur Rahm an, who looked after his father's scrap shop, however, said they were not aware allow the incident occurred in a separate room.
"We did not observe anything unusual in them until they ate dinner last night. Despite knocking on the door of their room, we failed to get any response, but we peeped in through a hole in the wall and saw them hanging. We are clueless about the incident," said the man's father, Nur Alam.
Local sources said the couple was found hanging from the ceiling in one "dopatta" (shawl worn by girl).
Police officers said a case of unnatural death had been registered and that the bodies had been sent for postmortem. "We have started investigations," an officer said.
