The Met office has forecast rain with lightning over Sunday and Monday.

“The absence of the overhead sun and the rain are likely to make the weather damp and gloomy but will provide a hint of cold,” he said.

“A trough of low-pressure extends along the Bay of Bengal coastline from Tamil Nadu to Gangetic Bengal. Rain with lightning and thunderstorm is likely on Sunday and Monday,” the Met said.

Under the influence of system, Calcutta saw moisture incursion on Saturday. The sky was cloudy for a better part of the day. As a result, the flow of cold and dry north-westerly winds has been stalled, pushing up the Celsius.

The Met office recorded “traces” of rain in Alipore. Many areas saw the showers in multiple spells, in the early hours of Saturday and then in the late afternoon.
