Youtuber's Darj portrayal: Lawyers file police complaint

SNS, DARJELLING, 1 SEPTEMBER 21 : Enraged at a recent post made by Gujarat-based Youtuber that highlighted Nehru Road below Chowrasta in Darjeeling town as a "red light area,", the lawyers' fraternity here have filed a complaint with the police against Dipak Trivedi, with them also planning to file a defamatory suit against him.

"This person Dipak Trivedi or Deep Trivedi had posted a video of Nehru Road here, maintaining that it was a red light area. This has hurt the sentiments of many here and we decided to take action against him," said Kripen Karki, a member of the Lawyers' Guild.

According to another member, Shabaz Ahmed, Mr Trivedi has used "derogatory words" for such a place like Nehru Road and Chowrasta, which is famous the world over as a tourist spot, along with the Mahakal Mandir (temple) also located there. 'We want to give him a legal reply to his action, so that such things are not repeated .Against this, one of our members has filed a complaint against him at the police station here and a case has been started. We have demanded strict action be taken," he said.

"We will also be filing a defamation case against him as he is showing the people and this place in bad light. Moreover, since it is on social media, people all over the world will have seen it," he said.
