Darj civic workers to go on strike
The strike is expected to hit people living in the Municipality area, with not only offices there closed, but workers of emergency services like water works, conservancy and electricity also joining the strike.
"It would mean that services like water supply and garbage collection will also be disrupted,' a municipality source said today.
According to the DNKS general secretary, Deepika Gurung, the decision to go for the strike had been taken after a meeting with officials concerned regarding the demands ended on an inconclusive note. "Our demands are that the 334 daily wage workers must be made permanent and post facto approval of 110 workers must be done," Ms Gurung said.
She, however, added that Covid vaccination that was going on at the Capital Hall and work to take photos for the Swastha Saathi health card at the Municipal Boy's High School would continue.
DNKS members were, meanwhile, seen putting up posters on public walls in the town, especially at Chowk Bazaar, announcing the strike.
