SNS, DARJEELING, 30 AUGUST 21: Close on the heels of Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) leader Ajoy Edwards announcing his resignation from the party, many more leaders followed suit today, with all of them pledging support to Mr Edwards.

GNLF's Darjeeling spokesperson Pramosker Blone, along with the working president of one of the party's frontal organizations, Gorkha National Army Organization, Ringa Tamang, stepped down from all party posts today.

"As our Darjeeling branch president Ajoy Edwards resigned from his post and the party, the branch unit is automatically dissolved, so I did not see any relevance in staying on in the party. Moreover, the situation is such right now that we cannot work together in one party," said Mr. Blone.

"After Edwards returns to Darjeeling, he will form a new party and we will work to look into the grievances of the people and solve their problems," said Mr Blone.

On the other hand, Mr Tamang said he was suffering from some ailments and was resigning from the post as he wanted to take some rest. He, however, also said that he would work with Mr Edwards.

The GNLF Darjeeling branch president, Mr Edwards, yesterday announced his resignation from the party through a video clip he sent from Ladakh, where he is presently touring.
