Anit Thapa announces new party by September
Don't Miss
SNS, DARJEELING, 20 AUGUST 21 : The leader of the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha-2, Anit Thapa, today officially declared that he would be floating a new party next month. while decided to term the development as a "new equation' in the Hill politics.
Mr Thapa made the announcement following a "restructuring' meeting of his party's central committee in a hotel here today
"The central committee meeting was held to discuss the new equation that will happen and we took advice on it from our members. The platform for it will be prepared by September 1st week," said Mr Thapa.
Though Mr Thapa mostly preferred to call it a "new equation," he later said that it meant a new party, when reporters asked him what he actually meant by a "new equation."
This is the first time that Mr Thapa has talked openly about the formation of a new party, even though there were reports and speculations on it doing the rounds for quite some time now. The development also comes close on the heels of party leader Binoy Tamang recently resigning from the party.
"We will take forward all issues of the Gorkhas by segregating them in two part. We will work on a solution for the problems faced by Gorkhas and the Hills," Mr Thapa said.
Mr Thapa also stressed that Gorkhaland would be possible not by agitation, but through dialogues with the Centre as it was a "policy making subject."
