SNS, ALIPURDUAR, 1 July 2021 : Workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Alipurduar district today sought explanations from their leaders on the demand being made for a separate North Bengal state or a Union Territory.
The BJP held a workers' meeting near the Alipurduar Parade Grounds in Alipurduar town today, BJP state vice-president Dipen Pramanik, state Saha Sangathan Mantri Kishore Barman, along with district convenor of the party Bhusan Modak, attended the "Karyakarini meeting."
"Some Mandal leaders wanted to know the party's stand on the separate state or Union Territory for North Bengal," the source added.

Sources added that Mr Pramanik told the workers that North Bengal was a deprived area and that the people in the region.
'That is why people are raising the demand for a separate state or UT. Our elected members just highlighted the public demand and nothing else. BJP never wants to break West Bengal," Mr Pramanik told the workers.
