4 dies of Covid : 38 in Darj, 5 in Darj Hills, 6 in Plains, 32 in SMC test positive, 35 admitted in Covid Block of NBMCH

Out of 1580 tests done 46 test positive, 75 recovered from Covid-19. 

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 18 July 2021: Reports received from Darjeeling district administration and collected from other sources regarding death, new cases, recovery, testing and treatment of Covid patients in the different Hospitals of North Bengal including Darjeeling district and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the last 24 hours is as follows:

4 Dies 

3 died of Covid-19, 1 died of Mucormycosis

Brojen Roy Chowdhary, 37 yr old of Shalbari Dhupguri died of Black Fungus (Mucormycosis) today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH.

David Gazmer, 70 yr old of Dhaknikatta Pradhan Nagar Siliguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH.

Amaresh Goswami, 75 yr old of Rabindra Sarani Siliguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH

Biva Karmakar, 55 yr old of Subhaspalli Siliguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

46 tested positive Test report received from Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at NBMCH

1580 swab samples received for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Tests in the districts of Darjeeling- 929, Kalimpong- 271, Jalpaiguri- 197 Alipurduar- 183. Of these samples 46 test positive.

32 in SMC:

32 of Siliguri Municipality Corporation (27 in Darjeeling and 5 in Jalpaiguri districts) test positive. 

38 in Darjeeling district:

38 positive cases reported in the district of Darjeeling, of which 27 are from the area of Darjeeling district of the SMC. 

5 of the Hills (1 in Darjeeling Municipality, 0 in Kurseong Municipality, 2 in Mirik, 1 in Bijanbari, 0 in Sukhiapokhari, 1 in Takdah)

6 of the plains (1 in Khoribari, 4 in Matigara, 1 in Naxalbari, 0 in Phansidewa, 0 in Sukuna) also test positive.

35 patients in NBMCH: (364 beds)

In the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, 35 patients are being treated for Covid-19 and suspected Covid-19 infection in the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. In the Covid block there are 29 patients of which  12 are admitted in the CCU unit of the Covid Block I and 8 in Covid Block II (Chest & Cardiac Unit) of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), 5 in Covid Block III (Female Medicine II) and 4 in HDU (Trauma care centre) and no patients in surgical isolation ward.

There is no patient in the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) ward, 5 in Gynecological Maternity Isolation ward (ID III) and no patient in other Isolation ward -1. 

Beside this 1 child is admitted in the Pediatric Covid Block of NBMCH.

During the last 24 hours, no serious patients are being treated in the two Isolation wards of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH).

75 Discharged:

75 patients have been released from Covid hospitals that also includes home isolation patients but excluding patients in private hospitals and army establishments.
