Weather Warning for the Region During Next four Days: Low Pressure Area formed over North west Bay of Bengal


KalimNews, Kalimpong, 12 June 2021: A Low Pressure Area has formed over North west Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha & Gangetic West Bengal coasts with the associated cyclonic circulation extending upto mid tropospheric levels persists. It is likely to become more marked during next 24 hours and move west-north westwards across Odisha. Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some parts of North Arabian Sea and some more parts of south Gujarat, south Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh and most parts of North Bay of Bengal and more parts of West Bengal today, the 11th June 2021. 
The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) passes through lat.20.5°N/ Long.60°E, Diu, Surat, Nandurbar, Raisen, Damoh, Umaria, Pednra Road Bolangir, Puri, 21.0°N/88.0°E, Canning, Krishnanagar Malda and 26.5°N/88.0°E. Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, remaining parts Chhattisgarh and Odisha, entire West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar and some parts of east Uttar Pradesh and remaining parts of North Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours. Yesterday’s trough at mean sealevel now runs from south Punjab to center of low pressure area over North west Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha & Gangetic West Bengal coasts across south Haryana, south Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and extends upto 0.9 km above mean sealevel.

12 June

1) Heavy to very heavy rain (7-20cm) with extremely heavy rain (>20cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Odisha.

2) Heavy rain (7-11cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Bihar, Jharkhand and East & West Midnapore, South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Jhargram, Bankura, Purulia, East & West Burdwan districts of Gangetic West Bengal.

3) Thunder storm with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over Bihar, Jharkhand, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Sikkim and the districts of West Bengal.

13 June  

1) Heavy to very heavy rain (7-20cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Odisha.

2) Heavy rain (7-11cm)likely to occur at one or two places over Bihar, Jharkhand and West Midnapore, Jhargram, Bankura, Purulia, East & West Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad districts of Gangetic West Bengal.

3)Thunder storm with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over Bihar, Jharkhand and the districts of SubHimalayan West Bengal.

14 June

1) Heavy to very heavy rain (7-20cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Odisha.

2) Heavy rain (7-11cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Bihar, Jharkhand, Sikkim and Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Coochbehar, Alipurduar, Murshidabad, Birbhum, West Burdwan districts of West Bengal.

3) Thunder storm with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of SubHimalayan West Bengal.

15 June 

1) Heavy rain (7-11cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Sikkim and Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Coochbehar & Alipurduar districts of SubHimalayan West Bengal
