Fungus patient flees NBMCH,172 new Covid cases in Darjeeling district


SNS, SILIGURI, 17 JUNE 21 : A 58-year-old female mucormycosis patient hailing from Murshidabad district today fled from the ENT ward of the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) where she was undergoing treatment.

Sources said the woman was admitted there yesterday and that her test results confirmed mucormycosis today. A police complaint has been filed, it is learnt.

172 new Covid cases in Darjeeling district

The Siliguri Municipal Corporation area, including those under Jalpaiguri district, recorded 67 new Covid-19 cases today, while Darjeeling district registered 172 cases in total, sources said.

Thirty- two cases were found in Matigara Block, 25 in Naxalbari, 17 in Phansidewa, 15 in Sukna, 11 in Kurseong Municipality, 10 in Bijanbari and five cases each in Darjeeling Municipality and Kharibari.

227 patients recover

Meanwhile, 277 Covid patients, whether in home isolation or undergoing treatment in government Covid treatment facilities have recovered in the past 24 hours in the district, the sources said.

Covid patients die

Around four persons who had tested positive for Covid-19 died at the NBMCH in Siliguri in the past 24 hours, sources said.
