BIT-Sindri student comes up with cleaning robot: automated robot that can clean the surfaces of hospitals and public areas using UV rays.
First year techie claims UV rays enclosed in device can destroy the reproductive system of bacteria

The idea and the graphic design of the robot were submitted by Prity Choudhary, daughter of a private company driver and a homemaker, to the upcoming BIT-Sindri Model Club annual competition ‘Techie of the year’.
“The movement of robots can be regulated through a camera attached to it in order to prevent accidents,” further said Choudhary.
“The idea came into my mind in around October or November last year when I was peeved over scenes of migrant workers returning to their respective places,” explained Choudhary.
Choudhary who cleared the Jharkhand Combined Engineering Competitive Examination in 2019 in the second attempt, said, “Me, like other families of economically deprived section of society faced economic constraints in studies but never allowed my dreams to die down and planning to go into research arena and after completing my B. Tech from BIT-Sindri after getting entry into the prestigious organisation Indian Space Research Organization.”
“A few seniors in our institute also guided me to participate in the Techie of the Year Contest which allows first year B Tech students to present original scientific ideas based on innovative ideas,” summed up Choudhary.
Chadan Kumar Jha, a B Tech third year student of BIT-Sindri who is also a member of Model Club, said, “We have started inviting ideas of the contest meant for first year B Tech students since March this year and have so far received around 30 ideas out of which some like that of Prity Choudhary holds potential to revolutionise the present sanitation system of public places.”
“The second round of the contest is likely to be held by this month's end after a short listing of ideas submitted during the first round by a panel of experts and the selected participants will have to prepare the live model,” said Jha.
