5 die of Covid : 261 in Darj, 86 in Darj Hills, 106 in Plains, 78 in SMC test positive, 93 admitted in Covid Block of NBMCH

Out of 2014 tests done 314 test positive, 400 recovered from Covid-19. 

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 9 June 2021: Reports received from district administration and collected from other sources regarding death, new cases, recovery, testing and treatment of Covid patients in the different Hospitals of North Bengal including Darjeeling district and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the last 24 hours is as follows:

5 Dies:

Atul Roy, 59yr old of Atharokhai died today in a nursing home at Sevoke Road Siliguri.  

Sharmistha Sarkar, 57 yr old of Kamrangaguri Satellite Township Jalpaiguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

Biswajit Choudhary, 45 yr old of Bagha Jatin Colony Champasari Pradhan Nagar Siliguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

Saras kumar Mukherjee, 74 yr old of Raigunj died today in a nursing home at SIliguri.

Roshan Tamang, 57 yr old of Mirik died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH.

314 tests positive 

Out of 2014 swab samples received for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Tests from the districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar,  315 samples tested positive.

78 in SMC:

78 of Siliguri Municipality Corporation (69 in Darjeeling and 9 in Jalpaiguri districts) test positive. 

261 in Darjeeling district:

261 positive cases reported in the district of Darjeeling, of which 69 are from the area of Darjeeling district of the SMC. 

86 of the Hills (6 in Darjeeling Municipality, 2 in Kurseong Municipality, 37 in Mirik, 20 in Bijanbari, 5 in Sukhiapokhari, 16 in Takdah).

106 of the plains (40 in Matigara, 20 in Naxalbari, 24 in Khoribari, 5 in Phansidewa, 17 in Sukuna) also test positive.

93 patients in NBMCH: (314 beds)

In the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, 93 patients are being treated for Covid-19 and suspected Covid-19 infection in the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. In the Covid block there are 86 patients of which 39 are admitted in the CCU unit of the Covid Block I and 27 in Covid Block II (Chest & Cardiac Unit) of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), 16 in Covid Block III (Female Medicine II) and 8 in HDU (Trauma care centre) and 6 in surgical isolation ward.

In addition to this during the last 24 hours,7 serious patients are being treated in the four Isolation wards of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). There are 1 patient in the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) ward, 6 in Gynecological Maternity Isolation ward (ID III) and no patient in Isolation ward -1. 

New Pediatric Covid Block is opened in NBMCH with 14 beds for children.

400 Discharged:

400 patients have been released from Covid hospitals that also includes home isolation patients but excluding patients in private hospitals and army establishments.
