Weather Warning for the Region During Next Four Days

01 May 

1) Thundersquall with wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over Birbhum, Murshidabad, Bankura, Purulia, East & West Burdwan, West Midnapore & Jhargram districts of Gangetic West Bengal.

2) Thuderstorm with lightning and Gusty wind (speed reaching 40-50 Kmph) likely to occur at one o two places over Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North24Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Nadia & East Midnapore districts of Gangetic West Bengal.

3) Thuderstorm with lightning and Gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 Kmph) llikely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Coochbehar, Alipurduar, Malda, North Dinajpur & South Dinajpur districts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal.


02 May 

1) Thundersquall (wind speed reaching 50-60 Kmph)likely to occur at one or two places over Murshidabad, Birbhum, Nadia & West Burdwan districts of Gangetic West Bengal.

2) Thuderstorm with lightning and Gusty wind (speed reaching 40-50 Kmph) likely to occur at one or two places over Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura & East Burdwan districts of Gangetic West Bengal.

03 May

1) Heavy rain (7-11cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Alipurduar, Coochbehar, Murshidabad, Birbhum & Nadia districts 

2)Thuderstorm with lightning and Gusty wind (speed reaching 40-50 Kmph) likely to occur at one or two places over Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Nadia & East Midnapore districts of Gangetic West Bengal.

3) Thuderstorm with lightning and Gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 Kmph)likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Coochbehar, Alipurduar, Malda, North Dinajpur & South Dinajpur districts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal.

4)Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at one or two placess over Darjeeling & Kalimpong districts of SubHimalayan West Bengal.


04 May

1) Heavy rain (7-11cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, Alipurduar, Murshidabad, Birbhum, East Midnapore, West Midnapore & Nadia districts of West Bengal.

2) Thunderstorm with lightning and Gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 Kmph) likely to occur at one or two places over all the districts of Gangetic West Bengal.

3) Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over all the districts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal.


Major Weather System over the Region

Very Light to Moderate rainfall occurred at a few places over Jharkhand, at one or two places over Bihar, Odisha. Very light to light rainfall occurred at many places over Birbhum & West Burdwan districts of Gangetic West Bengal, at one or two places over Sikkim. Very light rainfall occurred at a few places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands and at one or two places over Murshidabad & Bankura districts of Gangetic West Bengal. Weather remained dry over the rest of the region. 

Yesterday’s maximum temperature appreciably fell at one or two places with marked fall at one or two places in Bihar and the southern parts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal; appreciably fell at one or two places in Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal; appreciably rose at one or two places with marked rise in the northern parts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal. No large change occurred elsewhere in the region. Those were above to appreciably above normal at many places in Sikkim and Sub Himalayan West Bengal, at a few places in Gangetic West Bengal; above normal at most places in Jharkhand, at one or two places in Bihar and Odisha and normal elsewhere in the region. Highest maximum temperature of 43.1°C was recorded at Sonepur (Odisha) in the plains of the region. 
A trough in westerlies at 5.8 km above mean sea level runs roughly along longitude 88°E to the north of latitude 22°N. Yesterday's cyclonic circulation over East Madhya Pradesh & neighbourhood now lies over northeast Madhya Pradesh & neighbourhood and extends upto 1.5km above mean sea level. Yesterday's trough now runs from the above cyclonic circulation over northeast Madhya Pradesh & neighbourhood to central parts of West Bengal across Jharkhand and extends upto 1.5 km above mean sea level.
