
Mamata Banerjee takes oath as Chief Minister for third consecutive term
TMC supremo to chair meeting on Covid-19 situation at 12:30 pm

Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar administered her the oath of office and secrecy at a low-key ceremony at the ‘Throne Room’ of the Raj Bhawan held amid the raging COVID pandemic.
Mamata took the oath in Bengali language, wearing her trademark white saree and shawl.
Apart from senior TMC leaders like Partha Chatterjee and Subrata Mukherjee, poll strategist Prashant Kishor, who played a key role in TMC's victory, and the chief minister’s nephew, MP Abhishek Banerjee were present.
Mamata has said her first priority after resuming office will be to tackle the COVID-19 situation.
She will be chairing a meeting at Nabanna on the pandemic situation in the state at around 12:30 pm on the day.
The chief minister has already reached her Howrah office, where she was given a guard of honour by the Calcutta Police.
After taking the oath, Mamata appealed to all political partie not to engage in violence. She warned of taking appropriate actions against the accused.
Post-poll violence has broken out in several places in Bengal. Since the results were declared on Sunday, 17 deaths have been attributed to political clashes. The BJP has said nine of its supporters were killed, Trinamul six and the Sanjukta Morcha two.
