Don't Miss
SNS, KURSEONG, 16 MAY 21 : The Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha (Binoy Tamang faction) has decided to replace the present chairman of the Kurseong Municipality, Krishna Limboo, with Vice-chairman Biren Gurung.
Sixteen Ward Councillors of the Municipality under the Morcha's Tamang faction control the civic body here.
The decision was taken in an "emergency meeting' called by the GJMM (Tamang camp) general secretary, Anit Thapa, in Kurseong today
Mr Thapa held the meeting with all the councillors of the party-led municipality board and decided to remove Mr Limboo, saying that he was not able to work properly in public interest.
"Even during this ongoing Covid pandemic situation, he failed to provide proper assistance to the public in the town. That is why the GJMM-led Kurseong Municipality Board has decided to remove the current chairman from his post," a party leader said.
According to Mr Thapa, the official procedure to replace the chairman will be executed tomorrow.
"Accordingly, the present vice-chairman, Mr Biren Gurung, will be the new chairman of the Kurseong Municipality," Mr Thapa told reporters after the meeting.
