11 die of Covid : 467 in Darj, 63 in Darj Hills, 161 in Plains, 301 in SMC test positive, 136 admitted in Covid Block of NBMCH

Out of 1846 tests done 146 test positive, 301 recovered from Covid-19. 

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 21 May 2021: Reports received from district administration and collected from other sources regarding death, new cases, recovery, testing and treatment of Covid patients in the different Hospitals of North Bengal including Darjeeling district and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the last 24 hours is as follows:

11 Dies:
Bishnu Kumari, 68 yr old of Rongtong Kurseong died yesternight in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 
Albenus Lepcha, 45 yr old of Kalimpong died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 
Sujit Ghose, 76 yr old of Gate Bazar New Jalpaiguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 
Bidur Rai, 41 yr old of Kalimpong died today in a nursing home at Check Post Siliguri.
Prashanta Das, 60 yr old of Babupara Siliguri died today in a nursing home at Sevoke Road Siliguri, 
Chhaya Saha, 80 yr old of Hakimpara Siliguri died today in a nursing home at Sevoke Road Siliguri, 
Pradip Kunwar, 35 yr old of Kumar Para Mal Bazar Jalpaiguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 
Gandheswari Sen, 75 yr old of Ghoghomali Siliguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 
Malay Chand Paul, 56 yr old of Deshbandhupara Siliguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 
Dulal Bhattacharya, 69 yr old of Sukantapalli Siliguri died today in a nursing home at Hill Cart Road Siliguri, 
Sujit Ghose, 76 yr old of Gate bazaar New Jalpaiguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

146 tested positive Test report received from Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at NBMCH
1846 swab samples received for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Tests in the districts of Darjeeling- 934, Kalimpong- 79, Jalpaiguri– 320, Alipurduar- 513. Of these 146 samples test positive.

301 in SMC:
301 of Siliguri Municipality Corporation (243 in Darjeeling and 58 in Jalpaiguri districts) test positive. 

467 in Darjeeling district:
467 positive cases reported in the district of Darjeeling, of which 243 are from the area of Darjeeling district of the SMC. 
63 cases reported from the Darjeeling Hills (5 in Darjeeling Municipality, 4 in Kurseong Municipality, 28 in Mirik, 12 in Bijanbari, 7 in Sukhiapokhari, 7 in Takdah,).
161 of the plains (67  in Matigara, 49 in Naxalbari, 8 in Khoribari, 24 in Phansidewa, 13 in Sukuna) also test positive.

136 patients in NBMCH:
In the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, 136 patients are being treated for Covid- 19 and suspected Covid- 19 infection in the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. In the Covid block there are 116 patients of which 50 are admitted in the CCU unit of the Covid Block I and 23 in Covid Block II (Chest & Cardiac Unit) of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), 33 in Covid Block III (Female Medicine II) and 10 in HDU (Trauma care centre). 
In addition to this during the last 24 hours, 20 serious patients are being treated in the four Isolation wards of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). There are 5 patients in the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) ward, 14 in Gynecological Maternity Isolation ward (ID III) and 1 in Isolation ward -1, but no patients in surgical isolation ward. 
New Pediatric Covid Block is opened in NBMCH with 14 beds for children.

569 Discharged:
569 patients have been released from Covid hospitals that also includes home isolation patients but excluding patients in private hospitals and army establishments.
