10 die of Covid : 540 in Darj, 60 in Darj Hills, 260 in Plains, 331 in SMC test positive, 145 admitted in Covid Block of NBMCH

Out of 2310 tests done 570 test positive, 372 recovered from Covid-19. 

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 22 May 2021: Reports received from district administration and collected from other sources regarding death, new cases, recovery, testing and treatment of Covid patients in the different Hospitals of North Bengal including Darjeeling district and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the last 24 hours is as follows:

10 Dies:

Alyar Hussain, 80 yr old of Matigara Siliguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

Nanda Gopal Banerjee, 62 yr old of Pareshnagar Jalpaiguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

Swapna Sen, 65 yr old of Deshbandhupara Siliguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

Pranab Saha Kundu, 75 yr old of Deshbandhupara Siliguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

Bimal Banik, 62 yr old of Subhaspalli Siliguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

Yanki Sherpa, 40 yr old of Judge Bazar Darjeeling died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH.  

Darshan Lohar, 64yr old of Dudhia Kurseong died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

Chhabi Kar, 69 yr old of Siristala Jalpaiguri died today in a nursing home in Sevoke Road Siliguri.

Malay Chakraborty, 80 yr old of Hakimpara Siliguri died today in in a nursing home at Matigara Siliguri.

Pradip Kr Sarkar, 64 yr old of Hakimpara Siliguri died today in a nursing home in Pradhan Nagar Siliguri.

570 tested positive Test report received from Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at NBMCH

2310 swab samples received for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Tests in the districts of Darjeeling- 910, Kalimpong- 196, Jalpaiguri– 763, Alipurduar- 441. Of these 570 samples test positive.

331 in SMC:

331 of Siliguri Municipality Corporation (220 in Darjeeling and 111 in Jalpaiguri districts) test positive. 

540 in Darjeeling district:

540 positive cases reported in the district of Darjeeling, of which 220 are from the area of Darjeeling district of the SMC. 

60 cases reported from the Darjeeling Hills (4 in Darjeeling Municipality, 17 in Kurseong Municipality, 19 in Mirik, 11 in Bijanbari, 8 in Sukhiapokhari, 1 in Takdah,).

260 of the plains (125  in Matigara, 89 in Naxalbari, 20 in Khoribari, 13 in Phansidewa, 13 in Sukuna) also test positive.

145 patients in NBMCH: (214 beds)

In the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, 145 patients are being treated for Covid- 19 and suspected Covid- 19 infection in the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. In the Covid block there are 129 patients of which 54 are admitted in the CCU unit of the Covid Block I and 32 in Covid Block II (Chest & Cardiac Unit) of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), 28 in Covid Block III (Female Medicine II) and 15 in HDU (Trauma care centre). 

In addition to this during the last 24 hours, 16 serious patients are being treated in the four Isolation wards of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). There are 4 patients in the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) ward, 12 in Gynecological Maternity Isolation ward (ID III) and no patient in Isolation ward -1 and in surgical isolation ward. 

New Pediatric Covid Block is opened in NBMCH with 14 beds for children.

372 Discharged:

372 patients have been released from Covid hospitals that also includes home isolation patients but excluding patients in private hospitals and army establishments.
