Over 2000 innoculated in Darj district


SNS, SILIGURI, 2 MARCH 21: A total of 2,159 individuals were administered the Covid-19 vaccine as part of the second phase of the vaccination drive in Darjeeling district today.

The vaccination for people above 59 years of age and those between 45 and 59 with comorbidities started in government vaccination sites in the district has started, officials said.

Sources said that the health department faced problems as the CoWin 2.0 app developed glitches. The portal is required for pre-registration of the individuals.

The inoculation drive was today carried out at the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, Siliguri District Hospital, Darjeeling District Hospital, Kurseong Sub Divisional Hospital and nine block primary health centres, it is learnt.

The 2,159 recipients included polling personnel, police personnel and healthcare workers.

Officials said 57 persons in the category of more than 60 years received the Covid- 19 shots, along with 17 persons in the age group between 45 and 59, with any of 20 specified chronic health disorders.

"Technical problems in the CoWin 2.0 app delayed the vaccination programme today It continued till 7.30 in the evening. However, a total of 2,159 people have received the vaccines," said a health department official.
