1 death: 17 of Hills (5 of Kalimpong and 12 of Darjeeling), 4 of SMC, 16 of GTA infected

19 recovered from Covid-19, Fresh positive cases during last 24 hrs –5 in Kalimpong, 12 in Takdah tested positive. Of the plains they are- 1 in Matigara, 1 in Phansidewa, 1 in Naxalbari.

2 in Alipurduar, 2 in Coochbehar, 10 in Jalpaiguri, 3 in Malda, and tested positive.

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 4 January 2021 : Reports received and collected regarding testing and treatment of Covid patients in the different Hospitals in the 5 of the 7 districts of North Bengal including Darjeeling district and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the last 24 hours:- 

1 Death: 

Brajendra Shukla Vaidhya, 92 yr old of Ashoke nagar Siliguri died in Dr. Chhang’s Covid SS Hospital. 

4 in SMC:

4 of Siliguri Municipality Corporation (2 in Darjeeling and 2 in Jalpaiguri districts) tested positive. 

17 in Darjeeling district:

Of the 17 positive cases of Darjeeling district, 2 are from the Darjeeling district of the SMC while 12 are from Darjeeling hills- 12 in Takdah tested positive. Of the plains they are- 1 in Matigara, 1 in Phansidewa, 1 in Naxalbari. 

State Health department’s daily bulletin states that within the last 24 hours Darjeeling district records 20 new cases,17923 confirmed cases of which 17312 have recovered and 199 died while 412 are active cases.

5 in Kalimpong:

5 new cases, 4 release reported today from Kalimpong. State Health department’s daily bulletin states that within the last 24 hours Kalimpong district records no new cases, 2174 confirmed cases of which 2111 have recovered, 24 died and 39 are active cases.

2 in Alipurduar:

2 new cases, 7 release reported. State Health department’s daily bulletin states that within the last 24 hours Alipurduar records 4 new cases, 7651 confirmed cases of which 7523 have recovered and 85 died while 43 are active cases.

2 in Coochbehar: 

2 new cases, 7 release reported. State Health department’s daily bulletin states that within the last 24 hours Coochbehar records 2 new cases, 11696 confirmed cases of which 11449 have recovered, 72 died and 175 are active cases.

10 in Jalpaiguri: 

10 new cases, 14 release reported from Jalpaiguri today. State Health department’s daily bulletin states that within the last 24 hours Jalpaiguri records 8 new cases, 14429 confirmed cases of which 155 died while 13937 have recovered and 337 are active cases.

3 in Malda:  

3 new cases, reported today from Malda. State Health department’s daily bulletin states that within the last 24 hours Malda records 7 new cases, 12513 confirmed cases of which 12175 have recovered and 113 died and 225 are active cases.

19 Discharged:

After testing negative and recovery 19 cases have been released including home isolation patients but excluding private hospitals and army establishments. 

NBMCH

During the last 24 hours 4 suspected Covid patients are admitted in three Isolation Wards of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). There are 2 patients admitted in Gynecological Maternity Isolation ward, 1 in Surgical isolation ward and 1 in Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) ward, and no patients in Isolation ward -1.

1 each of 1st Division Som TE Darjeeling, Kataria Mirik and Algarah Kalimpong –total 3 of GTA area admitted.

DR. CHHANG'S SS Covid Hospital 

At present in Dr.Chhang’s SS Covid Hospital at Matigara, 18 Covid-19 patients (5 are in ICU) are admitted, during the last 24 hours 2 patients newly admitted and 5 released.

At Dr. Chhang’s Super Speciality Covid hospital- 1 each of Lebong Darjeeling, Takdah Cantonment, and Naya Bazar Kurseong - total 3 of GTA area admitted.

5 patients of Darjeeling and 5 from Kalimpong are admitted, 2 released in this hospital.

The number of Covid-19 infected people in the district of Darjeeling are, 326 in home quarantine - in Kalimpong district 432 in home quarantine, the tally of GTA area stands to 758.

There are 6 Covid patients in 1 Covid hospital and one isolation ward of NBMCH outside GTA area, 10 in GTA area and nil Covid patients in 5 Safe Homes of GTA and in Safe homes outside GTA area, the tally of GTA being 16 active cases in Covid hospitals and safe homes.
