Treat for bibliophiles at book-signing event


SNS, SILIGURL, 20 DECEMBER 20 : It was a cold  winter's evening, but Café The Twins at Salbari in Siliguri yesterday brought out sparks of warmth within book lovers, who gathered there for Pankaj Giri's book-signing event he held for his debut novel "The Fragile Thread of Hope.'

As the turnout settled down amid the cozy and cheery ambience in the café, Mr Giri, the author hailing from Gangtok in Sikkim, said the book is seasoned with the flavours of exotic Nepali traditions and set in picturesque Gangtok.

"The Fragile Thread of Hope explores the themes of spirituality, faith, alcoholism, love and guilt, aide navigating the complex maze of family relationships. Inspirational and heart-wrenchingly intimate, it urges you to wonder —does hope stand a chance in this travesty called life?" he said.

To begin the event, the owner of the 'literary café', Lekha Rai, introduced the author and spoke on how the e-book version of the novel was selected as a finalist of the Amazon Pen to Publish contest in 2017. She also told the gathering that the paperback version was published by Fingerprint Publishing in December 2019 and that Mr Giri also recently bagged The Best Author (Fiction) award at the Indian Literary Awards-2020.

The hook has received critical acclaim from award winning authors like Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni and Renita D'Silva and has won the hearts of readers throughout the country, many comparing his writing with the likes of Khaled Hosseini, Iojo Moyes, and Nicholas Sparks. It has sold more than 2500 copies within a year of its release.

'The Fragile Thread of  Hazope' is available online on Amazon and Flipkart and signed copies are also available for purchase at Cafe The Twins, Salbari. Mr Giri said the book will also be available at the Crossword, City Centre, Siliguri, within a few days. Mr Giri further urged readers fmm the region to read his book, and thus help a local writer reach literary heights.
