In Dooars, Gurung iterates 'no vote for BJP' stance- would hold a public meeting "with lakhs of people" in Jaigaon

Don't Miss

RAJ KUMAR KARMAKAR, SNS, BIRPARA, 13 DECEMBER 2020 : Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha leader Bimal Gurung today iterated his stance and appealed to the people in the Dooars to "not give a single vote" to the BJP.

Mr Gurung was addressing a mass meeting at the Pragati Maidan under the Birpara police station in Alipurduar district.

The Gorkha leader, who has made a return to the region after over three years in hiding ever since the 20I7 Gorkhaland agitation, came down heavily on the MP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Prime Minister Narendra had promised to solve issues related to the Gorkha community, but did nothing," he said.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi, you came to the Dooars and promised to solve the problems plaguing the Gorkha people, but what did you? Where did your promises go? You did nothing," Mr Gurung added.

He also announced that he would hold a public meeting "with lakhs of people" in Jaigaon very soon.

"We saw to it that the BJP won elections in the Panchayat, Bidhan Sabha and parliament. It was because of me that John Barla got the ticket to contest the last parliamentary elections here and won, but in return, we got nothing," an emotional Mr Gurung said.

According to him, the Bharatiya Janata Party instigates communal clashes and does politics with it.

"Don't give the party a single vote, not a single vote," said Mr Gurung.

"Now it is our time. Mamata Banerjee will keep her words. We will fight with the central government with Mamata Baneijee," he added.

He further reached out to the different communities that live in the Dooars and said: "We love Adivasis, Rajbangshis, Muslims, Biharies and everyone living in the Dooars."

Organisers of the public meeting said they received very good response from the people and that the turnout was very good today.

Accompanying Mr Gurung to Birpara today were other top Morcha leaders like Roshan Giri.
