96 fresh Covid-19 cases in Darjeeling district

Two Covid patients die in Siliguri hospitals

SNS, SILIGURI, 21 NOVEMBER 2020 : A total of 96 fresh cases of Covid-19 were detected in Darjeeling district today, sources said.

Forty-nine of the new cases were from the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, one from Darjeeling Municipality, three from Kharibari, four from Sukna, two from Kurseong Municipality, 26 from Matigara, one from Mirik, seven from Naxalbari, two from Pulbazaar/ Bijanbari, and one from Sukhia Pokhari.

A total of 24 cases were also found in the Jalpaiguri portion of the SMC.

Also today 109 Covid patients either ended their home isolation period or were discharged from hospitals, the sources said.

Meanwhile, two persons who had tested positive for Covid-19 died in Siliguri today. A 63-year old resident of Champasari in Siliguri died in Dr Chhang's Hospital, the designated hospital for Covid patients at Matigara, while a 68 year-old from the Bhaktinagar area in Siliguri died undergoing treatment at another hospital for Covid-19 patients at Kawakhali, sources said. He had been admitted to the hospital on 14 November.

39 new cases in Malda

Malda district recorded 39 fresh cases of Covid-19 in tests conducted last night. While 32 samples were tested positive at the VRDL, in the Malda Medical College and Hospital through the RT-PCR method, the seven others were detected in rapid antigen tests, sources said.

Among the fresh cases, eight were from Bamongola and the remaining from various other blocks of the district.

24 in South Dinajpur

South Dinajpur recorded 24 new cases of the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, sources said. Seven of the fresh cases were from the Balurghat Municipality area.

On the other hand, 27 Covid patients either ended their home isolation or were discharged from the hospital after treatment. The total number of active patients in the district stands at 163, including 146 in home isolation.The total number of cases so far in the district is 7505, officials said, adding that a total of 162749 tests have been conducted so far.
