
79 new Covid cases in Darj dist- Four die in Siliguri

SNS, SILIGURI, 28 NOVEMBER 20 : Darjeeling district recorded a total of 79 fresh cases of Covid19 today. A total of 27 cases were found in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, four in Darjeeling Municipality, one in Kharibari. six in Sukna, eight in Kurseong Municipality, 17 in Matigara, one in Mirik, eight in Naxalbari, five in Phansidewa, one in Pulbazaar/ Bijanbari and one in Takdah, sources said.
A tofal of 21 cases were also detected in the Jalpaiguri portion of the SMC.
Also today 97 Covid patients were either discharged from hospitals or were released from home isolation, the sources added.
Four die in Siliguri
Meanwhile, an 80-year old man from Pradhannagar under Ward 2 in Siliguri died at the designated hospital for Covid-19 patients at Kawakhali here last evening. He had been admitted to the hospital on 24 November, sources said. An 84-year-old person of Deorali in Kurseong, who had been admitted to hospital on 23 November, also died there last evening.
Another 50-year-old resident of Malbazaar in Jalpaiguri district died today. He had been referred to the hospital from the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital on 25 November, sources said.
A 43-year-old resident of Kalimpong died at another designated hospital at Matigara in the wee hours today.
32 new cases in Malda
Malda recorded 32 new cases in tests conducted last night. According to sources, 24 samples were tested positive at the VRDL in the Malda Medical College and Hospital through the RT- PCR method, while eight cases were detected in rapid antigen tests. Among the fresh cases, 14 alone were from areas under the English Bazaar Municipality, while the remaining cases were spread across various other blocks of the district.
