77 fresh Covid cases in Darj dist- Three die in Siliguri (1 each of Kurseong, Hakimpara and Banarhat)

SNS, SILIGURI, 16 NOVEMBER: Darjeeling district recorded a total of 77 new cases of Covid 19 today, sources said.

Among the fresh cases, 30 were from the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, two in Kharibari, three in Sukna, one in Kurseong Municipality, 20 in Matigara, four in Mirik, 15 in Naxalbari, one in Phansidewa , and one in Pulbazaar/Bijanbari.

Sixteen cases were also detected in the Jalpaiguri portion of the SMC, sources said.

Also today, a total of 71 Covid patients either ended their home isolation period or they were discharged from hospitals.

Three die in Siliguri

Meanwhile, a 68-year-old resident of Hakim Para under Ward Number 15 in Siliguri, who had tested positive for Covid-19, died at the dedicated hospital for Covid patients at Kawakahli today.

He had been admitted to the hospital on 5 November, sources said.

A 58-year-old resident of Banarhat in Jalpaiguri district died at another designated hospital at Matigara. He had been admitted to the hospital on 8 November, sources said.

A 61-year- old person from Kurseong also died at the hospital yesterday, it is learnt.

11 new Covid-19 cases in Malda

Malda witnessed a further dip in the daily cases of Covid 19.The district recorded only 11 fresh cases in tests conducted last night, sources said.

Ten of the fresh cases were found in tests conducted at the VRDL in the Malda Medical College and Hospital through the RT-PCR method, while one case was detected through rapid antigen tests.

Only three samples from the English Bazaar Municipality were tested positive for the virus yesterday, the sources said.
