
3 die in Siliguri,130 new Covid cases in Darjeeling district

SNS, SILIGURI. 5 NOVEMBER 2020 : Three persons, including two Sliguri residents, who had tested positive for Covid- 19 died in Siliguri in the past 24 hours, sources said.
A 65-year-old resident of Ashram Para in Siliguri died at Dr Chhang's (Covid) Hospital at Matigara last evening, while a 51-year-old person from Sukanta Nagar under Ward 38 here died there today.
A 71-year-old resident of Alipurduar died at the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital today. He had been tested positive for Covid- 19.
Minister Deb tests positive for virus
On the other hand, state Tourism minister Gautam Deb was tested positive for Covid-19 today, sources said. He is undergoing treatment in a private hospital at Matigara in Siliguri, they added.
Meanwhile, Darjeeling district recorded 130 new cases of Covid-19 today, sources said.Thirty- three of the fresh cases were from the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, two from Darjeeling Municipality, six from Kharibari block, 20 from Sukna, six from Kurseong Municipality, 30 from Matigara, one from Mirik sub-division, 15 from Naxalbari, 13 from Phansidewa, two from Pulbazaar-Bijanbari and two from Takdah. Twelve cases were separately detected in the Jalpaiguri portion of the SMC.
Also today, 72 Covid patients either ended their home isolation period or were discharged from hospitals,the sources said.
96 in Malda
Malda recorded 96 new cases of Covid -19 in tests last night, sources said.
Among the fresh cases, 71 were detected at the VRDL in the Malda Medical College and Hospital through the PCR method and 25 through rapid antigen tests. The most number of cases among these, 18, were from the English Bazaar Municipality, while 16 were found in Gazole. and 11 in Bamongola.
44 in South Dinajpur
South Dinajpur witnessed 44 new cases in the past 24 hours, sources said.A total of 56 Covid patients were also discharged after treatment within the same period. There are presently 209 active cases, with 146 of them in home isolation, the sources said.
