SNS, SILIGURI, 1 OCTOBER 2020: Two persons who had tested positive for Covid-19 died in a private health facility in Siliguri today, sources said. They were a 72-year-old resident of Kurseong and another 67-year-old resident of Islampur in North Dinajpur.
Meanwhile, a doctor of the physiology department at the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital has tested positive for the virus. He was admitted in the respiratory intensive care unit yesterday and has now been referred to a Covid treatment facility, sources said.
Malda saw a spike in Covid 19 cases today, with 107 new infections identified, sources said. A total of 97 samples were tested positive from among the 853 tested in the Malda Medical College, while another 10 were found through rapid antigen tests. The worst affected were Bamongola with 35 cases and Habibpur with 20.
90 new cases in Darj dist
Ninety new cases were reported in Darjeeling district , including 29 in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, one in Darjeeling Municipality, three in Kurseong Municipality, two in Mirik, one in Pulbazaar/Bijanbari, three in Sukhia Pokhari, seven in Kharibari, one in Sukna, 24 in Matigara, 15 in Naxalbari, and four in Phansidewa blocks, sources said. A total of 21 cases were also detected in SMC areas in Jalpaiguri district. Also, 65 patients were released either from home isolation or Covid hospitals, sources added.
46 in North Dinajpur
In North Dinajpur, 46 persons were detected positive for Covid 19 in the past 24 hours. sources said. The fresh cases are from different areas under Raigunj, Islampur, Chopra, Goalpokhar, Itahar and Dalkhola.
