Delhi registers record-breaking spike in Covid-19 tally, reports 4853 new cases in last 24 hours

 Delhi has reported a record-breaking spike in its Covid-19 Delhi on Tuesday. According to the information released by the state health department, Delhi registered 4,853 new cases of Covid-19 within the last 24 hours.

Pankaj Jain, IT, New Delhi, October 27, 2020  : Delhi on Tuesday registered the highest-ever spike in its Covid-19 tally as the state recorded 4,853 new cases within the last 24 hours. With Tuesday's spike, the total number of Covid-19 cases reported in Delhi has reached 3,64,341. The national capital also reported 44 deaths, taking the death toll to 6,356.

The last time Delhi reported such a high number of cases was 41 days ago. On September 16, Delhi had registered 4,473 cases. However, since then the daily number of new cases in Delhi had been on a decline.

According to the data released by the state health department, over 2,700 patients recovered from Covid-19 in Delhi in the last 24 hours. The total number of recovered patients in Delhi is at 3,30,112

The rate of infection in Delhi is currently 8.48 per cent and the recovery rate is 91.6 per cent, the Delhi government said.

The Covid death rate in Delhi is 1.74 per cent. The number of active cases in the national capital is 27,873.

The number of containment zones has increased to 3,032 in Delhi.

Delhi is among the 10 states and UTs worst-affected by the coronavirus pandemic. According to the Union health ministry, Delhi is among the 10 states/UTs that currently has 78 per cent of total active Covid-19 cases in India.
