SNS, SILIGURI, 29 OCTOBER 2020 : Darjeeling district recorded 104 new cases of Covid-19 today, sources said.
The fresh cases included 38 in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC), one in Darjeeling Municipality, two in Kharibari, eight in Sukuna, eight in Kurseong Municipality, 20 in Matigara, 17 in Naxalbari, nine in Phansidewa, one in Takdah, the sources added.
The Jalpaiguri portion of the SMC also separately recorded 27 new cases.
Also today, 94 Covid patients either ended their home isolation or were discharged front hospitals, the sources said.
District official sources further said that these discharge figures do not include discharge of Covid patients form private hospitals and defence establishments.
81 new cases in Malda
Malda district, meanwhile, reported another 81 cases of Covid- 19 cases in tests con-
ducted at the VRDL in the Malda Medical College and Hospital through the RT-PCR method, sources said. A total of 524 samples were tested there last night, it is learnt.
Among the fresh cases, 26 were from areas that fall under the English Bazaar Municipality and 13 from Kaliachak-II, while the remaining were spread across other blocks in the district.
Malda now has over 9500 total cases of coronavirus infection with 80 deaths so far an d n early 1 100 active cases, officials said.
