Two die in Siliguri, 51 fresh Covid cases in Darjeeling district

27 of the fresh cases were found in areas under the Siliguri Municipal Corporation 

SNS, SILIGURI. 27 SEPTEMBER 2020: Two persons who had tested positive for Covid-19 died in Siliguri today.
A 41-year-old person from the Phansidewa block in Darjeeling district died at the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, while a 65- year-old resident of Alipurduar also died there, sources said.
Meanwhile, Darjeeling district today recorded 51 fresh Covid-19 cases, sources said.
While 27 of the fresh cases were found in areas under the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) , one was from Darjeeling Municipality, seven from Kurseong Municipality, three from Mirik, one from Sukna, eight front Matigara, three from Naxalbari, and one from Phansidewa, the sources added.
A total of 11 fresh cases were also detected in areas in Siliguri falling under Jalpaiguri district.
Also today, officials said a total of 81 Covid patients either ended their home isolation or were discharged from Covid hospitals.
In Malda, another 57 cases of Covid -19 were detected in tests conducted in the VRDL in the Malda Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) last night and through rapid antigen tests, sources said.
Twenty-six of the fresh cases were detected in the MMCH, which tested a total of 213 samples yesterday, while the remaining 31 were found in antigen tests.
Seventeen of the fresh cases detected in the MMCH were areas under the English Bazaar Municipality, which also detected 14 other cases through the antigen tests, while five other cases were from the English Bazaar block.
"A slowdown in the number of daily cases of Covid 19 is being seen in the past few days, with the daily figures hovering around the 50 mark," sources said.
"EBM area remained the worst affected with 31 cases in total they said.
