63 patients have recovered, 38 new cases in Malda
SNS, SILIGURI, 26 SEPTEMBER 2020 : A 73-year-old resident of Kurseong died at Dr Chhang's Hospital, the dedicated hospital for Covid patients at Matigara in Siliguri, today. Sources said he had been admitted in the hospital in a "serious condition."
On the other hand, a 42 year-old resident of Cooch Behar district died in the respiratory intensive care unit of the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital in the wee hours today. He had been admitted in the hospital on 24 September and later had been tested positive for Covid- 19.
Darjeeling district recorded a fresh 107 Covid-19 cases today, sources said.
The new cases include 45 in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, four in Darjeeling Municipality, four in Kurseong Municipality, one in Sukna, four in Mirik, three in Pulbazaar/Bijanbari, two in Sukhia Pokhari, and 22 in Naxalbari, two in Phansidewa, four in Kharibari and 16 in Matigara Blocks, the sources added. Nine cases were also reported in the Jalpaiguri portion of the SMC.
Also today, 63 patients have recovered, including those in home isolation, in Darjeeling district, sources said.
38 new cases in Malda
Malda district reported 38 new Covid- 19 cases in tests conducted last night.
While 18 cases were detected in tests in the VRDL, in the Malda Medical College and Hospital, 20 more were found through rapid antigen tests, sources said.
Eleven of the cases tested in the MMCH were from areas under the English bazaar Municipality, and others from Old Malda, Chanchal-I, Gazole and Manikchak
The total number of cases in Malda has now gone up to almost 6500, with 55 deaths and around 500 active cases till last night.
