SNS, Siliguri, 16.09.20: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will leave for north Bengal on 21 September to review the Covid situation in those districts.
This would be Miss Banerjee's first district tour in the last six months. She would hold meetings with district magistrates and senior officials. Along with taking stock of the pandemic situation, she would take a detailed account of the progress of the ongoing projects. 'With projects getting delayed due to the pandemic situation, Miss Banerjee is likely to review the districts which are performing well and those that are lagging behind. She has tepeatedlysaid that work cannot stop due to pandemic and so will now review the status of the development projects. Again, some of the state's flagship projects namely Kanyashree, Rupashree, Sabuj Sathi, Samabyathi and others would also he reviewed," said an official.
Since the Covid outbreak in the last week of March, Miss Banerjee has been holding administrative review meetings through video conferences from Nabanna.
According to her itinerary, Miss Banerjee is scheduled to reach Siliguri on 21 September. Next day, she would hold an administrative review meeting with the district magistrates of Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri at Uttarkanya, which is the state secretariat in north Bengal. Another administrative meeting would be held on 23 September with the district magistrates of Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Coochbehar. Miss Banerjee is also likely to lay the foundation stones of a few projects. She is expected to leave for Kolkata on 24 September.
Meanwhile, ahead of the visit, the state government today transferred some IPS officials including SP Darjeeling Amarnath, who has been posted as SP Siliguri and SDPO ArambagNirmal Kumar Das, who has been transferred to the post of SDPO Mekliganj in Coochbehar.
