Seven people missing in Teesta swim to safety

TT   |   Jalpaiguri   |   22.07.20  :  All seven persons who had gone missing in the swollen Teesta after a boat capsize on Monday evening swam safely to Mouamari, a dry portion of the riverbed close to the right bank, and took shelter there at night.

The capsize occurred when they had been returning their homes in Champadanga on the left bank of the river in Malbazar. Disaster management teams had launched a search in the river but called off the operation when they learnt all were safe.

Later, they were brought here for medical examination and sent back home.
