"After reviewing the current situation, we have earmarked the plains of the Darjeeling district, Malda and North Dinajpur as the most vulnerable districts of North Bengal. There are hardly any positive cases in Cooch Behar at present," stated Dr. Sushanta Rai, OSD.
More doctors are being deputed at the COVID-19 hospitals in the district including Dr. Chang's, Desun and North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.
"44 additional specialists will be deputed in these facilities," added the OSD.
Stress will be given to physical distancing. Soon, there will be a review meeting to decide the fate of markets, including the Siliguri Regulated Market, from where there have been a number of positive cases reported.
There are over 400 people infected in the civic areas of Siliguri.
At least 10 marketplaces will remain completely closed for the next 10 days.
