26 Cases recorded from 5 districts of North Bengal-10 released after recovery- 13 doctors quarantined- 1 private laboratory granted permission for Covid test. -lab technician’s 2 yr old child tested positive-testing machines granted – Sikkim reported 2nd case.


KalimNews, Kalimpong, 3 June 2020:
10 released after recovery: 5 patients of Darjeeling, 4 of Alipurduar and 1 of Jalpaiguri are released from Dr. Chhang’s Super Speciality Covid hospital.
26 new cases recorded: 2 from Kalimpong, 4 from Siliguri (Darjeeling district), 16 from Coochbehar, 2 from Alipurduar and 2 from Jalpaiguri, are the new cases of Covid-19 infection recorded within last 24 hours. Patients of Siliguri and Kalimpong are admitted at Dr. Chhang’s Super Speciality Covid hospital.
4 of Siliguri tested positive: A 40 year old woman of Sukantanagar ward no 38 Siliguri MC has tested positive after returning from Bangalore. Her father had gone to Bangalore for treatment and all swab sample of all of his family members were  taken for test and only his daughter has tested positive.
Another woman of Pareshnagar ward no. 44 has also tested positive. She was admitted in DESUN severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) hospital but today she has tested positive. 2 cases of fresh infection is reported from Kalimpong after a lapse of 2 months. 
2 year old son of a lab technician of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) residing at Shaktigarh has tested positive. A 9 year girl who was in contact with the child also has tested positive. 
State's bulletin states that as of now Darjeeling has 62 confirmed cases, 9 have been discharged, 3 has died and 50 are active cases.
Kalimpong cases: The first case is of a 60 year old woman of Samthar, she is admitted at Dr. Chang's  SS Covid hospital on 2nd June. 
She had been a TB patient and was admitted at TB ward of Kalimpong district hospital. There her swab test sample was taken on 23rd May and the result was out on 2nd June.
Another 72 year old woman of Saldara Dovan, Nimbong who had travelled from Delhi, after her arrival in Kalimpong on 22nd May she was kept in DISHA quarantine centre for a day and on 23rd her swab test sample was taken and she was released with advice to stay at home quarantine.
Their sample were sent to VRDL at NBMCH, but due to backlog of huge samples in the laboratory only on 2nd June their test result was sent to district health officials. Both tested positive to Covid-19.
It is recollected that on 2nd April, 6 cases were reported positive from Kalimpong and on 17th April, 4 patients of the last batch who tested positive tasted negative for the second time and they were released from the hospital. There being no active cases the containment zone and buffer zone classification was withdrawn after a month from 10th May. 
As of now Kalimpong has 11 Confirmed cases, 1 died, 8 have recovered and there are 2 active cases.
Sikkim: Sikkim has reported 2nd case of Covid-19 in the state: Another 54 yr old person returned from Delhi who was in a quarantine center has been found positive to Covid. He had returned on 25th May from Delhi and staying in a government facility quarantine centre in Rangpo Sikkim Mining. On 2nd June he tested positive and is admitted at Covid Hospital in STNM.

Coochbehar: 16 more cases of Covid infection is reported from Coochbehar: Coochbehar with more number of returnee migrant labourers is being a threat as more new cases are reported everyday and 16 new cases are reported today. 
Confirmed cases of Coochbehar tally 134 whereas 27 are healed and 106 are active cases of the district. There is record of one death. Two cases actually are of the citizens of Bangladesh but for the treatment they had been to some relative of theirs at Coochbehar.
Alipurduar: 2 cases are reported from Alipurduar. As of now, confirmed cases of Alipurduar is 17 while 4 have recovered and 12 are active cases while one has left for Kolkata.
Jalpaiguri: 2 cases reported: 1 Corona infection from Chengmari of Nagarkatta block (Jalpaiguri district) is reported today that tally 6 from Nagarkatta of Jalpaiguri, Another person is from Dhupguri.As of now,  there are 12 confirmed cases while 1 has recovered and 11 are active cases under treatment.

Doctors sent to quarantine facility: In view of the doctors testing positive, 13 medics and 7 nurses of NBMCH who were in contact with the medics testing positive, are sent to quarantine facility.

RNA Auto Extractor started functioning: The RNA extractor machine that facilitates easy and fast extraction of RNA for the RT-PCR (real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) test has tested successfully in the VRDL of NBMCH. There are 2 numbers of RT-PCR and 2 numbers of TrueNAT (TruenatTM beta CoV test on TruelabTM workstation validated by ICMR is recommended as a screening test) and CB-NAAT(Cartridge Based Nucleic Acid Amplification test) machine that are testing swab samples at NBMCH. 
Testing machines in 2 district hospitals: Anit Thapa, Chairman of GTA stated that two district hospitals of Darjeeling and Kalimpong will be equipped with a True NAT machine each, very soon.  State government will be providing them.
One private diagnostic centre having a laboratory in Siliguri is permitted to perform RT-PCR test for the Covid-19, it will start functioning from 13th June. As per the report it is granted to Anandaloke Sonoscan Centre Private limited is approved to do the Covid-19 test scharging fees.  
13 junior doctors, interns and 7 nurses of NBMCH are quarantined.  
Yesterday, 4 doctors (2 of medicine and 2 of gynecolocal department) and 1 lab technologist of NBMCH were tested Covid positive. The female lab technician of Shaktigarh along with her 2 year old child also has tested positive. It is alleged that she was forced to do her duty even after two of the samples she had tested for some patients came to be positive. After that she was advised home quarantine but on the very second day she was called to join the duty and she was doing her duty and on 28 May her swab sample was taken and on 1st June she with her 2 year old son tested positive. It is added that a 9 year old girl neighbour of the boy child also has tested positive.    
Yesterday 4 of Dr. Chhang’s SS hospital are also admitted that includes- 1 superintendent, asst superintendent, a laboratory technician and a house keeping staff.
Lately, as per the hospita; sources, 1 nurse and 1 receptionist of Dr. Chhang’s SS hospital has also reported to have been infected but it is yet to be confirmed by the district officials.

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 3 June 2020: 
In DESUN severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) Hospital at  Kawakhali, 6 patients of Sonada and 1 of Kalimpong are admitted today. 

NBMCH
From North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) 1 patient who gave birth to a girl child is transferred to Dr. Chhang’s Super Speciality Covid -19 hospital.
1 Patient is admitted in surgical isolation.
GTA
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 3 June 2020: 
5 patients of GTA area are in the Dr. Chhang’s SSC hospital. ( 2 of Sonada, 2 of Kurseong, 1 of Mirik)
The number of people in home quarantine in the district of Darjeeling is 2367 and in Kalimpong district it is 956, the tally stands at 3323. 
Altogether there are 465 persons in 41 institutional facility quarantines.

STATE 
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 3 June 2020: Todays report states a record highest spike of increase in new cases and active cases.
In the state 340 new cases (1 day before-396, 2 days before- 271) as well as    10 death (1 day before-10, 2 days before-8) and 170 recovery (1 day before-104, 2 days before-149) is recorded today.
The total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in West Bengal is 6508 (1 day before-6168, 2 days before-5772) while active cases is 3583 (1 day before-3423, 2 days before-3141). The death toll from the disease till now is 273 (1 day before-263, 2 days before-253) while there is 72 death due to Co-morbidity.
After recovery of the infection 2580 (1 day before-2410, days before-2306) are released from the hospital and the rate of recovery has increased to 39.64%.
The testing of swab samples for Covid-19 in 41, ICMR testing labs is being done at a very good rate and today 9499 (1 day before-9495, 2 days before-9480) samples within 24 hour were tested that tally 232225 (1 day before-222726, 2 days before-213231) till now since day 1.

Today 148287 persons (1 day before-146538, 2 days before- 144678) are currently under home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance and total 244828 persons (1 day before-241236, 2 days before-237129) were in the home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance.
Number of people released from home quarantine was 96541 (1 day before-94698, 2 days before-92451).
Currently in the 582 institutional government quarantine centres there are      18525 persons (1 day before-17804, 2 days before-17037) and so far from these centres 5618 persons (1 day before-54421, 2 days before-53320) were released after recovery.
Currently in the state there are 69 Hospitals dedicated for treating COVID-19, 16 Government Covid hospitals and 53 Private Covid-19 hospitals.
