Five more Covid .. Matigara man now tests negative

SNS, 22 May 2020, SILIGURI: Five migrant workers have tested positive to Covid-19 positive in the Islarnpur Sub-division in North Dinajpur district. While four of them are residents of Seikh Basti, Molani Gauchh and Asaru Basti villages in Chopra, another case has been detected in Rampur under the Chakulia police station.
It is learnt that the migrant workers had returned to the district from Delhi and Haryana a few days ago. Tension spread among residents of these villages after the cases were confirmed yesterday evening.
"Covid cases have now been detected in areas under three police stations in Islampur sub-division--Karandighi, Chakulia and Chopra. Both the Islampur and Goalpokhar police station areas, however, still remained unaffected." health department sources said. According to Islampur SDO,  K Alam, the five patients in Chopra and Chakulia have been sent to the COVID hospital in Raiganj. "Their family members have been quarantined," he said.
Chief Medical Officer of Health of North Dinajpur, Dr Rabindranath Pradhan, said the five workers had retuned returned from Delhi and its adjoining areas. "They had been in quarantine and their swabs tested positive yesterday," he said.
The Superintendent of Police of Islampur police district, Sachin Makkar, said the administration and the police have started work to mark the villages in Chopra and Chakulia as containment zones.
One more case in South Dinajpur
In South Dinajpur, one more COVID- 19 patient has been found in the Kumarganj block. The man had returned home a few days ago with his friends from Barasat. Health department sources said that he has been admitted in the Balurghat COVID hospital at Prayas Atryee, while also sending six of his family members to a government quarantine centre.
"The health department has started tracking down his friends with whom he returned. This is the fifth positive case in the district. Four patients from Kushmandi are still under treatment in Raiganj and Balurghat." sources said.
Matigara man now tests negative
In Siliguri, a resident of Matigara, who was tested positive for Covid- 19 in Assam on 19 May, has tested negative in the first test in Siliguri today.
The 32-year-old was admitted in the isolation ward of the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) with his wife and seven-year-old son. However, the man was taken to the dedicated health facility for Covid-19 patients as soon as the administration received the reports from Assam yesterday.
"Another test is being conducted for reconfirmation." said the officer on special duty for Covid-19 in north Bengal. Dr Susanta Kumar Roy. Meanwhile, 13 persons who came in contact with the Matigara man have been quarantined at Batasi, and the administration disinfected the area today.
