Day 59- 148 death, 3234 recovery and 6088 new cases with 118447 confirmed cases.

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 22 May 2020: Today is the fifth day of the fourth phase as well as fifty-ninth day of India’s nationwide lockdown, meant to curb the spread of novel coronavirus pandemic. The country is under lockdown since 25th March and it has been extended till 31st May 2020 in four phases. 

Confirmed COVID-19 cases in India stand at 1,18,447. The death toll from the outbreak in India is at 3,583. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Delhi have reported the highest number of cases.

Globally, there have been over 51 lakh confirmed cases of COVID-19. At least 3.32 lakh people have died so far. The United States, Russia, Brazil, the United Kingdom and Spain are the most-affected countries. Today is  of the nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of Covid-19.

A total of  148 deaths (1 day before-132, 2 days before-140) have been registered in last 24 hours taking the nationwide toll to 3583  (1 day before-3435,  2 days before-3303). Today 3234 patients were released  (1 day before-3002, 2 days before-3124) that tally 48534 (1 day before-45300, 2 days before-42298)

Within the last 24 hours 66330 active cases (1 day before-63624, 2 days before-61149) is recorded. Today there are 6088 new cases   118447 (1 day before-112359, 2 days before-116750) is recorded.

According to the latest update released by the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare.  

Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state of the country with 41642 (1 day before-39297, 2 days before-37136) confirmed cases and 2454 (1 day before-1390, 2 days before-1325) deaths and 11726 (1 day before-10318, 2 days before-9639) recovery. 

Tamilnadu is the second highest with 13967 (1 day before-13191, 2 days before-12448) confirmed cases and 94 (1 day before-87, 2 days before-84) death and 6282 (1 day before-5882, 2 days before-4895) recovery.
