Daily report on Covid 19 - 6 May 2020- no new cases in north Bengal since three days.



KalimNews, Kalimpong, 6 May 2020: As on 6 May 2020, there is report of 3,756,265 confirmed cases and 2,59,436 confirmed deaths and 2,238,662 active cases due to Covid-19 disease in 215 countries. United States continues to be the worst-affected with 12,38,023 cases and 72,321 deaths.

The two hill districts under the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) had 7 cases in Kalimpong and 6 cases in Darjeeling but its now free of it. Government of India once classified both the districts into Orange zone, later modified the list by again classifying them to Red zone. The state government has disagreed to the classification done on 30th April and reclassified it to Orange Zone along with 12 other districts of the state. 

As per the infection, Kalimpong district has one containment zone covering Ward no. 11 & 12 within Kalimpong Municipality while Darjeeling district has two containment zones covering Ward No.47 within Siliguri Municipal Corporation and Shantiniketan Housing Complex of Shrusuta Nagar under Matigara Block in Siliguri.
Similarly the neighbouring Jalpaiguri district has one containment zone covering Ward No 40, 41, 42 and 43 (Jyotinagar) under Siliguri Municipal Corporation. 

DAILY REPORT 

NORTH BENGAL 
No new cases is reported in North Bengal since three days. 

Condition of the 8 Covid-19 patients is stable since day 1. These 8 belong to other areas outside North Bengal and are being treated in the Dr. Chang's Super speciality Covid 19 Hospital located at Siliguri. 

The 8 are, an eye specialist doctor of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (resident of Kolkata), 4 of a family (1 of Kamakhyaguri and 1 of Barobisha of Alipurduar and 2 are residents of Coochbehar), 2 from Malda and 1 ambulance driver of Chennai who drove a person on 27 April from Chennai to Tripura via Assam and on his return was stopped at Dhupguri and tested positive. 

Both tests of all 27 co-traveller doctors and nurses tested negative, they may be released for self quarantine.

2 new patients are admitted in maternity ward of NBMCH while 1 expectant mother admitted in the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) of NBMCH and other 3 are released today. 

In Desun (SARI) Hospital 4 persons are under observation/ treatment, their tests has been done and result is awaited. Condition of one person admitted here is still serious since two days back. 

Several suspected people coming from other states and reaching north Bengal are admitted in different government designated Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) hospitals but test result of all came to be negative.

GTA 
3 new people coming from other states are admitted at quarantine centres of Upper Fagu Gorubathan under Kalimpong district at ITI Institute. 
In Batasia TB centre, 1 and in Old Railway Hospital of Kurseong, 3 persons are kept for quarantine. 
In Desun (SARI) Hospital one patient of Gorubathan is admitted since 4th May.
With the home coming of students and other people from other states, the number of people in self quarantine at their residence in the district of Darjeeling is increased from 179 to 182 while in Kalimpong district it is decreased from 164 to 150. 

STATE 
In the state 112 (yesterday-85) new cases and 4 (yesterday-7) death is recorded today and the total number of confirmed Covid-19 in West Bengal is 1456 (yesterday 1344) while active cases is 1047 (yesterday-940) and death toll till now is 72. There is 72 death due to Comorbidity.265 (yesterday 264) are released after recovery.

The testing of samples of Covid-19 in the 16 (2 new) ICMR testing labs has been increasing testing of samples at a very good rate and today 2570 (yesterday 2455) samples within 24 hour were tested that tally 27571 (yesterday-25116) till now since day 1 . 

Currently 9663 persons are under home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance and 74838 (yesterday-70186) persons have been in the home quarantine while so far 64975 people have been released from home quarantine. 

Currently in the state there are 15 Government Covid hospitals and 52 Private Covid 19 hospitals.

In the Institutional Government Quarantine Centres/ hospital isolation 4604 (yesterday-4712) persons are in isolation and so far 17244 (yesterday-16727) persons were admitted in the Institutional Quarantine.  

INDIA 
Today is the India’s nationwide lockdown's 43rd day or the 3rd day of the 3rd phase of lockdown, which has been extended till May 17. Restrictions have been eased in non-hotspot areas from today. 

In the last 24 hours, 126 deaths (yesterday it was 195) and 2680 (yesterday-2958) new cases, has been recorded taking the death toll to 1694 in the whole country. 3900 new cases (yesterday -2573) were reported within 24 hr, and have surged to 49391 confirmed cases (yesterday it was 46433), 33514 (Yesterday it was 32138) active cases. 

The death recorded due to Covid-19 was 1694  (yesterday-1568) (+126). Today 1074 people that tally 14182 (yesterday -12726)(+1456) have recovered so far according to the latest update released by the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare. 

Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with 15525 (yesterday- 14541) (+984) cases and 617 (yesterday-583) (+34) deaths and 2819 (yesterday 2465) (+354) recovery. 

The second highest increase is observed in Gujrat, it has 6245 (yesterday-5804 (+441) confirmed cases and 368 (yesterday-318) (+50) death and 1381 (yesterday-1195) (+186) recovery and release from Hospital. 

The next is Delhi with 5104  (yesterday 4898) (+206) confirmed cases and 64 death (+0) and 1468 (yesterday 1431) (+37) recovery.
